It’s the very last day of 2021, and it’s hard to believe how fast this year has gone. We’re super excited for 2022 because we have lots of great food, events, and plans for the new year. We hope you all will stay with us and enjoy what SmartyPlants has to offer this year. Cheers! ðŸ¥‚

This week, we are happy to offer a Vietnamese noodle soup, a Chinese noodle bowl, and another Chinese delicacy (and American favorite) that Phill teased a few weeks ago, that you won’t want to miss! They are all super delicious, and packed with nutrients.

Orange Chicken Soy Curl
Orange Chicken is a beloved favorite at Chinese restaurants all over the world, and is also the number one most requested dish at Panda Express. No wonder we are absolutely swooning over this dish. Typically, pieces of chicken are first breaded, and then deep fried. In our version, we use soy curls, which are 100% plants. We season and then pan-sear them for crispiness, and coat them with a delicious sweet and tart orange-flavored chili sauce that caramelizes into a glaze. Yum! There is absolutely no breading or deep-frying necessary to maintain all of the delicious flavor of this traditional Chinese dish. Served over brown rice and topped with sliced green onions, this dish is to die for.

Veggie Pho
Pho, which is pronounced FUH, but we like to call it PHO (rhymes with dough), is a Vietnamese soup consisting of an aromatic broth, rice noodles and generously topped with bean sprouts, green onions, chilis, lime, and fresh herbs such as cilantro, mint and basil. It’s typically served with chili sauce or tamari on the side to flavor the broth and thin slices of beef. We skip the beef and add flavorful Shiitake mushrooms, baby bok choy, and tofu cubes. It’s fun to make bowls of toppings, so that everyone can add as much as they’d like of each to their individual bowls. You eat this soup with a spoon, but don’t forget the chopsticks!

Veggie Lo Mein
Lo mein, or “stirred noodles”,  is a Chinese dish  that is typically made with egg noodles, vegetables and meat or seafood. Our version is made with brown rice ramen or vermicelli, lots of veggies and a delicious and creamy sauce. Simple and amazingly delicious!
