Have you tried Soy Curls? Whole soybeans are dehydrated, and formed into strips. Butler's Soy Curls are 100% soybeans, no additives, pesticides or chemicals used, and they are made from non-GMO soybeans. They are high in protein, with no cholesterol or fat, and they are delicious with a great chewy, meaty bite. And, the best part is that they are a minimally processed, whole food, and not a faux-meat product. We pan-sear them until they are crispy around the edges, yet chewy, with great texture. We absolutely love them!

Ingredients

1 8 oz. package Soy Curls
2 cups water, boiling
1 teaspoon tamari
3 tablespoons nutritional yeast
1/4 teaspoon sea salt
1 teaspoon granulated garlic
1 teaspoon granulated onion
2 turns freshly ground black pepper
1 sprinkle white pepper

Directions

  1. In a large bowl, mix together the soy curls and boiling water. Let sit for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the soy curls are rehydrated and the water is absorbed.

  2. Add the tamari, nutritional yeast, salt, granulated garlic, granulated onion, and black and white pepper to the rehydrated soy curls. Mix until soy curls are well coated.

  3. Preheat a large non-stick skillet over medium-low heat. Add the seasoned soy curls and cook, stirring as necessary to keep them from burning, about 25 minutes until browned, crisped on some edges and have a chewy texture. Adjust seasonings to taste.

  4. Remove from heat and use in a recipe, or let cool and refrigerate up to 5 days until ready to use.
