I never knew that I could make my own BBQ sauce so easily! You will want to put this on everything, it’s that good. Sweet, smoky, spicy—all the things you love about BBQ sauce.

3 tablespoons tomato paste
2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
1 1/2 tablespoons 100% pure maple syrup
1 1/2 tablespoons tamari
1 1/2 tablespoons vegan Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon tahini
1 tablespoon coconut aminos
1 tablespoon molasses
2 1/4 teaspoon freshly squeezed lemon juice
3/4 teaspoon Dijon mustard
1 1/2 teaspoon arrowroot powder
1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
1/4 teaspoon granulated garlic
1/4 teaspoon granulated onion
1/4 teaspoon chili powder
6 turns freshly ground black pepper
1/2 cup water
1 dash cayenne pepper

  1. Place all of the ingredients into a small saucepan and whisk them up until they are thoroughly combined.

  2. Over medium heat, bring the BBQ Sauce to a low boil and simmer for 10 minutes, whisking frequently. Your sauce will bubble and thicken.

  3. Remove from heat and let cool.

Recipe Notes

We make our BBQ Soy Curl Sandwiches and BBQ Bowls with this sassy sauce and also spread it on veggie burgers.

This sauce will keep in the fridge for up to a week.
